Exploring healing through the lens of the nervous system, one sensory system at a time.
Healing shouldn't always begin with reliving your worst moments.
The reason I started True Shift Psychology is the same reason I wanted to create this workshop series: I have done this work myself, and I know it works.
While doing my own work I felt there had to be a different way to heal. A way that didn't begin with repeatedly reliving the worst moments of our lives or focusing solely on changing negative thought patterns.
Trauma sits deep in our biological systems and through curiosity and exploration we can start to change some of these patterns in a way that isn’t so overwhelming and is more accessible.
Many of the clients I work with have already spent years in therapy. Oftentimes their feedback is, "Therapy has helped, but there are still patterns I just can't seem to shake."
Through the exploration of each sensory system my hope is with this new awareness of how your body moves through the world you’ll be hopeful and curious about how you can actually feel like yourself in your own body and start making choices that are yours instead of old trauma patterns.
About the Workshop Series
Exploring trauma, the sensory systems, and a different path toward healing.
We know trauma can become "stuck" in our bodies, and researchers have spent years studying how to help people move through and heal from those stuck patterns. Emerging research is offering a new perspective on how trauma impacts our sensory systems and how those same systems can become important pathways toward healing.
Across eight workshops, we will explore the sensory systems and the ways trauma can shape how we experience ourselves, others, and the world around us.
The intention is not to provide a quick fix, but to offer insight into your own nervous system, increase self-awareness, and create curiosity about what healing can look like.
Whether you are new to somatic approaches or have been doing therapy for years, this series offers an opportunity to better understand your sensory systems, how they may have been impacted by trauma, and how these systems can support a different way forward—one that addresses not only the symptoms of trauma, but also the lasting imprint it leaves behind.
The Research Behind This Work
This series is rooted in emerging trauma research and draws from the work of Ruth Lanius and colleagues, Sensory Pathways to Healing From Trauma, Finding Solid Ground, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
While the research continues to evolve, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: our sensory systems play an important role in how trauma is experienced, stored, and healed.

Vestibular Exploration
Workshop #1
This is our first sensory system developed and it is developed in utero. Our vestibular system operates subconsciously and is responsible for systems such as balance and knowing where we are in space and time.
We don’t tend to notice this system unless there is a disruption (i.e. tripping and the sinking gut feeling that goes along with that, which is interoception). One of the biggest implications when the vestibular system is disrupted is the ability to feel safe in this world due to a lack of a secure sense of feeling earth’s gravitational pull.
In this workshop, we’ll explore this system as a whole and learn more about your own vestibular system. We’ll identify if vestibular disruption is present, explore tools that can help regulate the vestibular system, learn what sets yours off, and how trauma impacts the vestibular system and its connection to attachment.

Meet your workshop facilitator
Hey, I’m Ramelle!
For years, I've sat with people who genuinely want to heal, but feel overwhelmed by the idea of revisiting the most painful moments of their lives. While trauma processing can be incredibly valuable, I often found myself wishing there was a step before it—a place where people could learn about their bodies, understand their nervous systems, and build a stronger sense of regulation first.
Through my own healing work, my training, and staying current with emerging trauma research, I've come to believe that our sensory systems offer one of those starting places. There is so much exciting research emerging in this area, and I am passionate about helping people better understand their bodies, their nervous systems, and the many different pathways available for healing.
This workshop may be a good fit for you if you:
